Africa Creates: Mentoring the Future

Passionate about mentorship, Winter Okoth explains how her experiences in a small school in rural Kenya inspired her to form Pamoja.

“I have learnt to take my pains and turn them into opportunities to help better not only myself but also the society as a whole. All the challenges I went through while growing up only left me with one option: to be empowered, and I therefore embarked on my empowerment journey while at a very young age!”

Winter Okoth was born and raised in Kenya where she experienced first-hand stringent poverty, struggled with her education pursuance due to financial constraints, and domestic violence at a very young age due to gender inequality issues.

Today, Winter is the Founder and Executive Director at the Pamoja Kenya Mentorship Alliance (P.A.K.E.M.A), a grassroots non-profit organization that serves as the 21st century mentorship movement and alliance of Kenyans & global elites extending mentorship programs to young school children and youths situated in the underprivileged areas of Kenya and beyond.

The P.A.K.E.M.A programs focuses on the empowerment, entrepreneurial leadership, critical thinking, socio-economical, health education, STEM education, community service, academic growth and prowess of the young children, girls, and youths who are the future leaders.
