Another day, another batch of awesome new music from around and about. Let’s head right into it:
Athieno – Trouble Medley
Who else other than Athieno (formerly known as Anniesoul) can bless us with a legit Fela Kuti – Bob Marley medley? Yup, in her usual acapella fashion, she’s mashed up Fela Kuti’s Trouble Sleep Yanga Go Wake Am and Bob Marley’s So Much Trouble In The World. The results = glorious.
Jim Chuchu – Shauri Yako
Staying with covers, here’s another awesome one from Jim Chuchu. It’s a cover of Shauri Yako, a very familiar tune from 80s. Chuchu attributes the original version to Zairean Nguashi N’timbo and his Orchestre Festival du Zaire.
Inami – Burn Hard
Producer/DJ St. Evo the Myth has been pretty busy this year adding more and more big tunes to his catalogue of Equatorial House offerings. The Burn Hard EP sees him team up with his tried and tested collaborator Inami, along with a remix by South Africa’s Melo.
M³ & Kahvinya – Heartbeat
Budding producer M³ returns with his next release entitled, Heartbeat with Kahvinya handling the vocal duties. The title says it all. This is a pulsating record about that one person and those many moments that makes your heart miss a beat or beat much faster. Another show of consistent quality by M³.
Kwame – Malkia (Jinku Remix)
Jinku’s remix of Kwame’s well-received Malkia slows things down and takes it’s time. It is the musical equivalent of those slow motion scenes in films when the hero first sets his eyes upon Future Bae.
Wanja – Hi Friends (Freestyle)
Another of Wanja Wohoro’s random but beautiful musical moments, proving once again how underrated this singer-songwriter is around these parts.
